Straight

Straight generally means someone who is attracted exclusively to people who are not of the same sex or gender as themselves. Most commonly, it means someone who identifies as a boy or a man and is attracted exclusively to people who identify as girls or women, or someone who identifies as a girl or a woman and is attracted exclusively to people who identify as boys or men.
Today, referring to people as "heterosexual" in conversation is taken as an indication that the speaker is uncomfortable and/or very unfamiliar with discussing issues around sexual orientation. It's generally seen as an awkward clinical term, whereas straight is a term that comes from within the community and is far less of a mouthful to say!
